Powder coating is a type of metal finishing that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The significant difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. This process results in an environmentally friendly ‘green’ coating process.
DoogoodTM Powder Coating utilizes two spray booths where experienced operators electrostatically apply powder coatings to a variety of different items. This manual approach allows us to effectively coat a diverse range of items to a high standard, including complex, large and intricate shapes such as boxes and mechanical parts. This system also provides us with the ability to run multiple colours in the two booths providing our operations with the flexibility to service your requirements with the highest quality finish in the time frames that will allow you to maintain a competitive edge in the current ‘just in time’ markets.
With two batch booth operations, we can turn around custom jobs in short periods, providing finished work within short time frames. DoogoodTMunderstand the need for reliable service in today’s market and have in-house quality assu
DoogoodTM Powder Coating provides an in-house sandblasting service to prepare and clean metal surfaces should this be required. This procedure is a highly recommended for certain types of material, as it gives the powder coating a better surface to adhere to resulting in a superior finish. All blasting is done to automotive standards (AS1627.4 Class 2.5).
DoogoodTM Powder Coating also recommends with the sandblasting of products that a zinc based primer is added to the process as an undercoat to protect the steel from metal corrosion. This zinc primer is essential in protecting exposed surfaces as the powder is a porous coating, which means that over time moisture may eventually penetrate the decorative and attack the steel, which in turn will start the process of rust and may cause the powder to delaminate. The zinc primer prevents the moisture from penetrating steel, and prevents the spread of damage to the decorative top coating. The addition of this process will allow the product a much longer life.
DoogoodTM recommends the treatment with our 5 stage chromate system for the preparation of all aluminium parts. This process provides an etched surface to which the powder coating will bond with. This process also provides a greater degree of corrosion resistance. Whilst the finish will adhere without the use of chromate it is recommended for architectural and commercial applications. This process is a requirement under the current Australian Standards.
DoogoodTM Powder Enterprises specializes in the provision of powder coated steel tube and fencing products for the commercial fencing industry, including provision of pre-coated standard size pipe sizes to facilitate the immediate supply of stock on as needs basis.
DoogoodTM is able to provide in-house abrasive media blasting services to prepare and clean a number of different substrates should this be required. Generally, this process is recommended for a variety of different materials as it provides the powder coating an ideal surface to adhere to, resulting in a superior and more durable finish. All blasting is done to current Australian Standards (AS1627.4 Class 2.5). Our new, state of-the-art blasting booth, allows us to carefully blast items ranging from the most delicate parts up to shot blasting large steel frames. We have the ability to blast large items up to 7.5 meters long and 3m wide.
DoogoodTM recommends with the abrasive blasting of ferrous materials, that a zinc rich primer is added to the process as a protective undercoat to avoid future corrosion. A zinc based primer is essential in protecting exposed surfaces as powder coating is a porous coating, which means that over time moisture may penetrate the top coating and attack the substrate material, which in turn, will start the process of corrosion and may cause the powder to lift or peel. A zinc primer prevents moisture from reaching the steel, and stops the spread of damage to the decorative top coating. The addition of this process affords the product a much longer operational life. Alternatively, an epoxy based primer is also available and is recommended for nonferrous substrates to prevent oxidisation such as ‘white rust’ as is seen in aluminium.
DoogoodTM is equipped with a 5-stage chromate system which has the capacity to process parts up to 13 metres in length.
This system has been designed to work with warranty projects and aluminium extrusions to provide the highest possible standard on the market. We currently perform services to a number of aluminium window manufactures, cladding fabricators and the transport industries.
This process provides an etched surface to which the powder coating will bond with. This process also provides an additional degree of corrosion resistance. Whilst the finish will adhere without the use of chromate it is recommended for architectural and commercial applications. This process is also a requirement of powder coating aluminium to Australian Standards [1627.0-1997].
We use only premium grade powders from international manufactures such as Akzo Nobel and Dulux. Other specialized powders can also be obtained for textured and metallic coatings if required for specialist projects
